Florence & Harold Morris Philanthropic Fund
Arriving in Vancouver in 1972 from Edmonton, Florence Mass had held major executive positions in many organizations, in particular the National Council of Jewish Women where she served as Chairperson of its national convention.
In 1971 Harold Morris came from Winnipeg where his Jewish involvement was focussed on United Jewish Appeal and the Zionist Organization. Florence and Harold were united in marriage in 1974 by Rabbi Marvin Hier of Schara Tzedeck synagogue.
With the experience of our previous respective community participation we quickly became involved locally. Florence served actively with the Women’s Division of Combined Jewish Appeal and Hadassah-Wizo and Harold was President of the Technion Institute of Israel, Pacific Region Chapter. When the Jewish Federation of Greater Vancouver was first established we became enthusiastic participants, acutely aware of the obvious needs of our burgeoning Jewish population. We hope our endowment fund will contribute to the perpetuation of our community, meeting the needs well into the future.
