Jonathan and Heather Berkowitz Family Fund
The strong, fundamental sense of our Jewish identities naturally shaped our family life and led to active participation in Jewish community. Jonathan’s communal “career” began at Hillel in his hometown of Edmonton, and continues to today. He has contributed to countless Jewish agencies. Most notable are the Jewish Federation Presidency, CJA Chairmanship, and Congregation Beth Israel Presidency. Heather grew up in Vancouver; her parents’ deep involvement in Jewish causes accustomed her to the “community lifestyle.” Also active on many community committees, highlights include serving on the Boards of Talmud Torah, Beth Israel, Beth Israel Women’s League and Jewish Federation Magazine.
Our work for Jewish causes has given us much in return, both in the sense of klal Yisrael that enriches our lives and in deep friendships formed. Our parents, Norbert and Sheila Berkowitz, and Leon and Rose Marie Glassman, taught us to use our talents and resources to return the blessings we have received. It is our pleasure to establish an endowment fund to further our values and love of community and Israel.
