Shirley Veiner Fitterman Perpetual Annual Campaign Endowment Fund

When I was growing up, Canada was a land with boundless opportunities for anyone, it seemed, who was prepared to see his or her dreams through to fruition. My father, Harry Veiner – immigrant, sheep farmer, businessman, and Mayor of Medicine Hat for over 22 years – was one such person. Dad was a role model as a community leader, humanitarian, philanthropist and fierce defender of all religions.

I have endeavoured to carry on my father’s values – pride in one’s self and family, strong traditions and community ties. In Vancouver I have been active in fund raising, planning events and working on Boards of Jewish organizations. Each experience has been one of growth, and it is gratifying to give something back to the community.

I established this endowment fund because I hope that through this gift others will enjoy the full range of benefits that I and my family have received from our community over the years.
