Why Work With Us Our Story
The Jewish Community Foundation is the centre for philanthropy in the Greater Vancouver Jewish community.
Originally, founded in 1989 as the endowment program of the Jewish Federation of Greater Vancouver, today the Foundation serves as a centre of philanthropy and legacy giving for the Jewish community. With over $70 million in assets under management, the Foundation accepts capital gifts, invests them prudently, and distributes grants to the local community and national and worldwide causes in accordance with the wishes of donors.
Foundation staff work closely with donors and their families to tailor their funds to fulfill their philanthropic objectives. We connect donors to community needs related to their passions and values and to generate additional financial resources to support community priorities.
At the heart of what we do are the values of klal Israel, tikkun olam, and tzedakah – fostering a sense of shared community, embracing a shared responsibility to improve and sustain our society, and accepting our obligation to do what is right and just. Through the provision of planned giving opportunities, the Foundation works tirelessly to ensure the long-term financial stability of the community and to provide opportunities for community members to leave a legacy that sustains these values.
